Wigginton is a small community which in Victorian days was known for straw plaiting. In the recent past (19th & 20th century) it was part of the Rothschild estate, which is responsible for the proliferation of Munkjack deer & Glis-Glis (edible door-mouse). Now the village is mainly a commuter village. Even so, it possesses a great community spirit, with lots of groups that keep the village alive with community activity.
